New Campus Guest WiFi service
Information Systems is pleased to announce the launch of a new guest WiFi service, WFUguest. The new service is comparable to what is com-
monly available at hotels, airports, coffee shops, colleges and universities. It is designed to make access to the Internet for campus visitors eas-
ily accessible through a simple self-service process. Campus visitors will no longer need to obtain special credentials from the Information Sys-
tems Service Desk. To access WFUguest, our guests will simply select WFUguest from the list of available networks, open a browser, and ac-
cept the User Acceptance Policy. The WFUguest network isolates guest wireless traffic from our secure campus wireless network. Students,
faculty and staff should continue to use the secure campus wireless, WFUwireless.

An Update, and a Call for Content
The Provost's Office is pleased to announce
that Library Partners Press, an imprint of Digital
Publishing @ Wake, has in the past year suc-
cessfully facilitated the publication of about
two dozen quality monographs, and is current-
ly promoting both a frontlist and backlist of
print and electronic books produced by WFU
faculty, staff, students, and friends. Many of
these books -- academic, creative, literary, gen-
eral trade, and otherwise -- are reaching their
respective readers through both ZSR's library-
licensed platforms (like Tizra, Pressbooks,
and Biblioboard) and via e-commerce
booksellers like
Meanwhile, and relying on the scalability of
such e-publishing platforms, Library Partners
Press is well-positioned to issue a continuing
"call for content":
WFU faculty, staff, students, and community
are encouraged to consider Library Partners
Press for their next digital publishing project(s).

This October, ZSR Will deploy a local version
of the Ithaka S+R Faculty Survey, a national
study of the impact of digital technologies on
research, teaching and publishing. The survey
will seek Reynolda campus faculty perspec-
tives on a range of topics, including how fac-
ulty engage with and perceive the library. In
particular, the survey will help ZSR gain in-
sight into how faculty members work in a
rapidly changing and increasingly digital envi-
ronment. The survey will include both stand-
ardized questions to enable cross-
institutional comparisons as well as locally
developed questions about library space
planning, digital research
activities and undergrad-
uate instruction. Re-
sponses will help shape
the future of ZSR ser-
vices. Your invitation to
participate will arrive via
email in early October.
Survey respondents will
be entered in a drawing
to win one of three Kin-
dle Fires.

Brave the Shave event!! Whether you decide to shave your head, volunteer, or donate, we hope you'll be a part of the excitement! This
event has raised $361,119.64 since it's start in 2007. This year the goal is to add $100,000 to that total! Mayor Allen Joines will kick off the
event at 2:00 pm at the stage on Trade Street in front of Finnigan's.
The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer
research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Get involved and you'll be
giving hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers!
